How do you update a directory listing?Use the Contact link at the bottom of the screen to send update information to us. We’ll update the information for you. Registration and subscription email notifications don’t seem to workWhen you register at SYC Life the registration is reviewed before the member account is finalized. The vast majority are approved (within 24 hours), but either way you will get an email to the address provided during sign up. If you subscribe to a forum topic or article by choosing to be notified of additional postings, you will be notified via your account email address. There are several reasons that you might not receive these emails. The most common reason is an error in the email address provided, or you’ve recently changed your email address, in which case the email will never get to you. Another possibility, becoming increaingly common, is when you use a ‘challenge / response’ system to avoid spam. The problem is, you’re challenging a system-generated email, so the challenge email is ignored, thus the notification does not arrive in your inbox. In this case you will need to check your pending emails or else white-list the syclife.com domain (recommended). We won’t spam you! How can I submit a story or event?First you will need to register as a member and be approved (usually occurs within 24 hours). Then log in and select the “Add Story” or “Add Event” option from the submissions menu. A form will be provided where you can type in the article or event (or cut and paste from somewhere else). Once submitted in this way it will be reviewed and if appropriate for Southern York County Life it will be posted, usually within 24 hours. While events submitted for the calendar may be fairly cryptic, stories should be fleshed out as though for printed publication. This is your responsibility--we do not have resources to rewrite stories, though we do edit in a similar manner as do printed publications such as newspapers. If it’s worth your time to write a good article, then we figure it’s worth ours to edit and post. If not then we simply delete it. Fair enough? Your member name will appear with the story. How can I change my password?Log in to the site and click on the “My Account” link at the top of the screen. Select “Username and Password” from the personal settings menu. Enter your new password--twice for verification--then enter your existing password and click on the “Update” button. |
