It used to be Rapid Lube - now they have new ownership and it’s The Lube Center (up behind True Value off of 851).
Things are definitely much better now with new ownership! They have a great new group of service techs - friendly and knowledgeable. Their price is a little higher, but you will receive quality service. You have a choice of driving your car into the bay and waiting in the car while the work is done (and you can see what’s actually being done!), or you can wait in their waiting room (which is being renovated at the moment).
Rapid Lube’s rep wasn’t all that. I used to hate going there and getting the barely audible babble rundown of what was supposedly done to my car.
It’s much better now - you can watch and they actually speak to you! Wow! LOLOL
They’ve asked me to spread the word about the service I received and let everyone know that they are open for business! I will definitely go back and I do recommend their services!!

My husband recently tried out the new place and raved about the service as well. Our 4 year old also got treated like a king....coloring books, lollipops, etc. Sounds like a big improvement over rapid lube.

My sister actually was just there and she was raving about it also. Thought the customer service was excellent!

I was there 3 weeks ago and the people are very nice. I like the fact that it doesn’t smell like a smoky bar anymore.
The prices jumped significantly, though. $35 for an oil change is a bit much.

I agree with the price increase. I recently took my car in, not knowing that it had changed hands, and was slightly shocked when told the total.
However, the service was excellent, thorough, and professional. I will return. Also, they gave me a customer card, so for every 10 changes you get one free (I think). That will offset the price increase some.

I took my daughter’s car there for an oil change and lube about a month ago. They were friendly, curteous and very quick. I was in and out in no time, so it was worth the little extra money to me.

That’s why I’m glad I do all my own work, lol. Changed the oil in my car and my wifes car combined for less than that, with name brand oil and filters.

I used to do mine, but the cars have become more difficult without a pit or a lift; especially the location of the d***ed oil filter!
I do my own air filters, though, after the Lube people show me mine and offer to change it for twice what I can get it for at the auto parts store.

I’m just glad I have a garage to do it now rather than in my driveway, a good jack and a couple of jackstands is really all you need to do most anything under a car. I pulled the transmission out of one of my cars last year without a lift or pit, although it would have been much easier with one, it’s just not in the budget right now. :D

Took Mrs. Killer’s car there last month; service was great, but $39.99 is ridiculous. I do not need the kids working there to yell out everything they are doing in order to justify me shelling out THAT kind of money again. Its an oil change, for crying out loud, not surgery.
Will go back to doing my own again, especially since there is a used oil recycle center right down the road in Norrisville.

Most any auto parts store will take used oil as well. Does the place in Norrisville still take antifreeze? I saw they did for a while and then when I finally got all mine together and took it down they didn’t.

The relationship between a $100 dollar barrel of oil and a quart of motor oil is tenuous at best, and to use it as the basis of an argument in support of the cost of an oil change is disingenuous. In the past when I used the place, admittedly before the current ownership, I would regularly find that the ‘inspection’ consisted mostly of a quick glance and a bunch of tick marks on a paper. On two separate occasions I had to indicate to the manager there was absolutely no way the tech could say my air filter was ok, as it was painfully obvious that the intake box had not been opened. An oil change can be done quickly and cleanly with a little forethought and some practice.

It would be worth a second look JustPlainC - the new owners are awesome - I sit in my car while the work is being done and they tell me exactly what they are doing and what problems - if any - they find. The old owner sucked. The new one is awesome. I’m glad that some of you are quite capable of changing your own oil, wish I could. I not only don’t have the time or place, but I don’t really have the desire to learn the inner workings of my car....
For others like me - this is a great place to go.

While I can change my oil, I often dont. It is a hassle and takes time. I do prefer to just have someone else do it. I will get by there and give them another chance.
