Dragon,
Knowing what we know now about the climate in the district that may not be a bad idea.  I guess a buy out would be a lot of money because I think her salary is well over $100,000 plus bonus, etc. but in the long run losing so many it may be the best bet.  How many years is her contract?  Has she been superintendent long?

The position of assistant superintendent should be filled.

It seems relying on one person has eliminated many checks and balances in our district.  Has the board addressed what would happen if Dr. Shenk would resign or (God forbid) become ill.  Who would know the ins and outs of the financial and educational regulations and where SESD stands?

Mrs. Rauscher from the Middle school West building may be a good candidate for assistant superintedent.

Mrs. Denton is currently acting as the superintendent’s right hand man.

I talk to Board members and the teachers. The new HS nurse and the Stewartstown nurse requested to be transfered I asked them.
many of the others were requested too. If you are that unhappy with Dr. Shank, tell the Board members to buy her out like they did with other superintendents in the district.

Dragon,
I believe that is the second time that you have made a suggestion to buy out Dr. Shank’s contract.  Would you, by any strange chance, have a connection with her that this is what she is hoping for?  Are you speaking on her behalf on this forum?

On the thread, “New Start for School Board”, on December 23rd, dragon also suggested to Carver that the board buy out Dr. Shank’s contract.

Hmmmm??

It is just what they have done before - people were not happy with Tom McShane and they bought him out - people are not happy with Dr. Shank - why wouldn’t they do the same thing? Then there was Corbo, Natter, Lomman......just seems like no matter who the superintendent was - people are not happy.

The people were not dissatisfied with Mr. McShane - the board under the influence of Dr. Shank had him unactive his last 6 months or so of his term.  There was no input from ‘the people’.  That was not a buy out at all, more of a manipulated push out and the people were puzzled.  The only buy out that I am aware of is Mr. Loman so this is not a common procedure in the district.

Maybe teachers were not dissatisfied with Tommy-Twostep, but ‘the people’ were.  I guess it goes back to cheryl&frank;’s post and it is all in your perspective.  Tommy said he was going to let everyone know what happened after his contract ran out.  Gee, have you heard anything from him?

Karl “with a K”,

Never heard “people” having a problem with Tom McShane, he was a great person and Administrator.  And perhaps he signed a NDA (that would be Non Disclosure Agreement) and that is why nothing more was heard.

This is one hell of an accusation to toss.  Can you PROVE this?  Or is it just more anecdotal evidence from the sky is falling crowd?

Where were you a few years ago when parents (and teachers) were complaining about the way he was handling the renovation disasters in the district?  Several meetings were held where parents voiced their disapproval, with television and newspaper covering the events, that apparently didn’t happen. People were not very happy with Tommy’s double-talk.  Maybe the teachers were happy in the way he handled the district, by letting them getting away with whatever and sweeping things under the rug.  “Don’t worry, everything is okay!” Tommy was here for the money, telling you what you wanted to hear, when you wanted to hear it.

THIS REPLY IS IN REFERENCE TO THE HIRING OF A “DEAN OF STUDENTS” @ STEWARTSTOWN ELEM.  - WHOEVER PUT THIS INFO ON HERE NEEDS TO GET THEIR FACTS STRAIGHT - THEY DID NOT HIRE A “DEAN OF STUDENTS” - YOU ALSO TALK ABOUT HOW THESE 25 STUDENTS (MRS. SWANSON HAS ONLY 16 STUDENTS NOT 25) ARE SO UPSET & THEIR LIVES ARE DISRUPTED - WHAT IF MRS. SWANSON HAD TO LEAVE FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR TO GO ON MATERNITY LEAVE?  YOU ARE MAKING THIS SITUATION SOUND SO BAD BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.  IF YOU ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SITUATION WHY DON’T YOU REVEAL YOUR NAME & GO TO STEWARTSTOWN ELEM. AND TALK TO SOMEONE INSTEAD OF GETTING ON THIS STUPID WEBSITE.  THIS WEBSITE IS A COP OUT FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO RUN THEIR MOUTHS BUT DON’T WANT TO BE SEEN.

Keep in mind that if students were having health problems due to renovating, so were teachers.  The revovating had an impact on everyone in the building - noise, dust, etc.  Maybe you and your cicle of friends thought Mr. McShane could have handled things differently.  However, I suspect our cicle of friends are vastly different, Karl and JPC.  We all look at things differently.

Mamma, I am glad your circle of friends did not get sick from the renovations.  I hope your circle of friends do not develop problems later because of their exposures. I wish my circle of friends hadn’t been exposed and have to suffer the rest of their lives.  If the parents had not have spoken up when they did, I think the conditions would have gotten even worse in the buildings. So, yes I do think Mr. McShane could have handled things differently.  He could have prevented the whole mess to begin with instead of waiting for someone to blow the whistle.

Believe me, the teachers were sick and still are and some will be later.

Bingo.  There are quite a few of the staff there that know who I am in life and who I am when I write here.  I grow so sick of anectdotal stuff from a bunch of busy hens at the end of thier street yakking it up after the school bus leaves.  What a 7 year old said is now fact and inflated into something much larger than it ever was.

You want facts, get your clearances and volunteer.  And for what it is worth, I have carried my clearances to all the schools for 10 years now.  I have seen most of what you seem to know so much about.
