Information on this notice is incorrect.
It is true that there will be a township meeting tonight at Hopewell Township Municipal Building.
It is true that the meeting starts at 7:00PM. It is not true that the meeting ends at 9PM. The ending time for this meeting is undetermined. Sometimes Hopewell Township meetings have listed to midnight and beyond.
For topics of discussion contact the over burdened township office for the agenda.
It is true that a trash hauling contract will be discussed.
It is not true that hog farms will be discussed.
It is true that advertising of a CAFO ordinance which has nothing to do with just hogs will be discussed. The CAFO ordinance covers all animals, hogs, pigs, cows, etc.
It is true that the meeting is a public meeting and anyone can attend. However, please keep in mind that the township building has limited space and cannot accomodate the number of attendees that have appeared at East Hopewell Township supervisor and township planning commission meetings.
Even East Hopewell’s regular meeting place cannot accomodate all the attendees which is why the July township meeting only permitted by occupancy law set by fire regulations could only accomodate the maximum of 40 people.
The fiirst township planning commission meeting was held in one of the township’s other buildings on the township’s premises for the same reason.
This is why the second township planning commission meeting and August’s township supervisor meeting was relocated to Eureka Fire Company.
Anyone who is not a resident of Hopewell Township who plans on attending the township meeting this evening is asked to please keep in mind that they are a guest of Hopewell Township’s and are not entitled to be recognized by the township board. If recognized by the board, it is out of courtesy towards a guest nothing more, nothing less.
If the board has a large attendance of their own township’s residents, those residents will be granted admittance to the township meeting as much as possible. All non residents will be kept out of the township building. It is not wise to have 300+ people attend the township meeting that are not residents of the township. The occupancy permit for this building is 75.
If in the future there is to be a large attendance as witnessed at East Hopewell township supervisor and planning commission meetings please contact the township building so that the staff can make arrangements to accomodate a large group of people. If necessary the township would consider relocating their regular meeting place to another location as done by East Hopewell.
So please take this into consideration if you are a non resident and are planning on attending this meeting this evening.
