Well, it is a bit later than the original 3 week estimate in November, but the Checkered Flag 500 Grill is finally opening up on Monday, March 24th at 6:00am!

We had some renovation issues that have all been taken care of and we now will have some table seating available.  It has taken a long time to get to this point and we are going to be phasing in some bakery items (please be patient and please make suggestions), but we are getting the doors open.  Great subs, fresh homemade dough pizza, wings and bakery items, featuring Turkey Hill Milk & Tea and Hershey’s Ice Cream.  We will have fresh in-store made donuts, pies, muffins, cookies and some cakes this week and we will be adding more all the time as we get ramped up.  The Florida strawberries are beautiful and I am going to be making some strawberry shortcakes and pies tomorrow to be ready for Monday.  They are great!

I have not advertized the opening anywhere else, just a sign in the window.  So you are getting the news first.  Please stop by to say hi!  I look forward to meeting some friends from the forum.

Lemon Meringue will be there on Monday.  Pecan Pies are coming.  Do you like regular pecan pie or the ones with chocolate on the bottom of the crust?

I will definitely stop in.  We need a good bakery around here...and strawberry shortcake is one of my favorites.  Any marshmallow donuts?  Honey dips?  My mouth starts watering just thinking about them.  If not, I’m sure I’ll find plenty of other goodies...I love good pizza, subs and sweets.  Can’t wait!

Regular style crust for me. I’ll take a Lemon Meringue, the wife loves them.

Thats great, we drove by on Wednsday and were wondering when the big day will be!! Though six is a little late for me to stop by for a donut and coffee, I’ll have to settle for picking up some subs for myself and my gf

We will have Hershey’s hand dipped starting tomorrow.  The sundae station is on order and that should be up and running sometime in April........I hope.

We worked really hard today to get the place looking as good as we can for the opening.  There are a few things missing, but all in all we are ready to serve a great meal at a fair price.  I did manage to get some Lemon Meringue pies, fresh strawberry pies and some eye popping homemade danish made today. 

For those of you that are from down south, I have tried to mimmick a certain Dundalk sub shop’s Cheesesteak sub.  I literally spent 4 months tracking down the rib eye supplier and we are going to be featuring that as our Champion’s Cheesesteak.  It is 12 oz of real sliced ribeye on an H&S;sub roll with what ever toppings you want.  The Capt. in Dundalk makes the best one I have ever had and I just hope that I can come close.

My husband loves the great Captain and would be a customer for life if you subs like those!

Now I know where to go to grab dinner after softball practice in Fawn!

The chicken salad is really good! I’ll be trying the cheese steaks or a fried oyster sandwich next trip. The wife is slobering over the pie. We’ll be slicing into it after dinner tonight.

What are your hours?

Drove by on my way home from East Prospect today, had a few cars out front and smelled pretty good. Was gonna stop for a cheesesteak, but had no cash on me :(. So, we’ll be stopping in tomorrow evening for a cheesesteak.

Had a wonderful dinner tonight.  That was the best cheese steak I have eaten in years! And the kids loved the pizza.  We will definitely be back.....Maybe the fried shrimp sub next mummmmm
