I’m new to the area and I’m trying to obtain recommendations for a good OBGYN doctor. I called a local OBGYN practice in Shrewsbury but I was told that a Certified Licensed Practical Nurse would be able to take care of routine female appointments including Colposcopy procedures. I’m just not comfortable with that. I really need a good doctor recommended. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Right now, I’m traveling past Towson to my current OBGYN and need something closer.

My wife goes to WomenCare in York and loves them. They use OB/GYN and Nurse Practitioners (certified midwives). She has never had anything bad to say about them and the practice is all female.

I don’t have any contact info handy but you should be able to find them in the Yellow Pages. I believe they are located near Rt 124 and 24 behind CVS.

I absolutely love Dr. Robert Ottenritter.  He is at Charles Street OB/GYN Associates. P.A., 410-823-1120.  He delivered both of my childern.  He is in Towson at GBMC but, it’s worth the drive.  I wouldn’t go anywhere else.  He is wonderful!  He is very caring and gentle too.

I know other people may feel differently but, all of my family’s doctors have always been in MD.  I truly believe the quality of healthcare in MD is much better than in PA.  I know of several situations to prove this too.  I’d much rather drive an extra 15 minutes to Towson for the peace of mind.  I still use the same pediatric practice that my parents took my sister and it to as well.  Even though my pediatrician retired a few years ago, it’s still a great practice for kids.

I too go into Maryland for my OB/GYN His name is Dr.John Yacoub 1-410-321-7790 In the pavilion at GBMC hospital and he has delivered all five of my children. I can not say enough good about him and his staff. It is worth the drive. I have been a patient of his since he was in his residency and that was over 22 years ago.

its towson/GBMC for me too.  My Dr. is Dr. Daya (male), I have also used Dr Aziz (female) and I would recommend either one.  I’m done having babies so going to Towson a couple times a year is no big deal and I love GBMC.

My GYN is also in Towson, Dr. Steven Berlin.  I started going to his practice more than 30 years ago (they were in Cockeysville at the time and I lived in Hamilton).  Unfortunately I don’t think they are iin the ob business any longer because of the cost of insurance.  The doctors in this practice delivered all 4 of my kids.  Several years ago, we changed insurance and I had to switch - I had a very hard time finding someone in this area (or in York) that I really liked and ended up going back to Dr. Berlin.  I’ll never switch again.

I also go to Towson/GBMC.  Dr. Hebb.  I LOVE her.  Definitely worth the drive.  Even while pg and having endless appointments.

I tried calling there; however the facility/doctor in Shrewsbury is not taking new patients. One can only see a nurse. For right now, I’m going to continue going to Towson because for OBGYN I want to see a doctor not a nurse. I sort of have a problem with a nurse providing services that are typically being and should be performed by a doctor. One is paying for doctor services but the medical practice is choosing to provide a nurse, who is probably being paid less than the physican there so why are we paying for doctor services? They are saving money and yet we are not? Plus, we are not getting the level of experience of a doctor yet we are paying for that service? That is wrong. Just my two cents.

Capital Women’s Care in Bel Air (5 doctors - 4 are women and there is a nurse midwife also).  They are wonderful—they only deliver at St. Joe’s in Towson.  Oh, they also have an office right there at St. Joe’s, but I figured the Bel Air office would be more convenient to you (it also seems easier to get an appointment there!).
