Over the past couple of weeks the cable company has “upgraded” our copper lines to fiber.
They provided no service for an entire day and in/out service over the next two days.  I was repeatly told on the phone during this time that it would be a few more hours. At 5pm they just stopped answering the phone.  While I guess by few they meant days instead of hours!  That’s real customer service!

In addition, I was informed that they were installing fiber to support cable modem access in the town.
They were going to test access with a few individuals.  We will see!

I am not sure how a company that can not accept electronic payments is going to provide the technical expertise to support the Sharded Cable Modem access to the net.

When I first moved to Stewartstown, I checked out NET access hoping for DSL since I was close to the CO.

The only real option was for Satellite until I found http://www.mtwirefree.net ! I have be surfing the net at speeds faster than Satellite or Cable modem for the past year and 1/2 and have not looked back.

I just wonder how much my TV access cable bill will be going up to support a service that I was Told by the cable company could never make money in Stewartstown!

Maybe I will have to go to Satellite for my TV access?

All I can say is that’s a cable company. Lets just hope that Clearview holds on and doesn’t sell out to Comcast. I was speaking with an employee of Comcast last week. They told me that they will soon be taking out the “trips” in their lines. Customers who just want basic cable and no extras who previously did not have to rent a cable box, will now be forced to rent a box for each outlet in their homes. This is due to “the rising costs of cable theft”. An extra $2.00 a month for each box in their home just to watch basic cable.....I’m sure the rental fee for a box will probably go up over the next few years too.

As far as Clearview goes, they do have plenty of problems. None too serious but they are behind the times. Maybe they just got tired of answering the phones that day, but for the most part, everyone that I’ve dealt with there (from telephone operators to installers etc) have been very nice.

Woah, wait....when did Clearview start offering cable modems? I remember them saying they would be offering the service in the ‘near future’ at the fair, but nothing official..

When I moved to the town last year, I was surprised to find that Clearview could not provide digital cable TV service:  I went without cable TV (to this day).  They ruined my front lawn installing a cable (NOT into the house) that I did not ask for.  I had merely enquired about what services were available!
I’ll wait until digital cable is available.  I may be tempted to go for satellite TV, in the meantime.  Hopefully, IF Clearview does invest in our town to provide a cable email and internet access service we’ll be assured of a secure system, free of hacking, virus infections and innumerable advertisements.

I am moving there next month and want to see what the cable options are.  I cannot find the website or number to call to do this.  Could someone provide me with either.

Thanks, Jeff
