Man...I don’t mean to pick, but pay the fine and next time stop. All the way.
When I first moved to town I too was introduced to the local constabulary...rushing home from Lowes in York with supplies and left town a bit too quickly. I was wrong, took the ticket, and paid my fine. I don’t exceed 45 coming in or out of College Ave anymore, either.
The cop could not have been any nicer.
Of course, I unfortunately have had a lot of experience meeting officers for speeding infractions (
) so maybe that’s why I take my lumps as I receive them and thank the cop for being nice...heck, have never gotten a ticket I did not deserve.
(despite that, I have no points as I go to court whenever possible if nothing else than to get the points reduced. In all seriousness, if you feel wronged about your husband’s ticket, don’t blame the cop for doing his job (even if he was overzealous, you DID not fully obey the sign); go to court and beg mercy from the judge. The courts are so crowded that they always simply say that if you have a clean record and plead guilty, they will give you PBJ (not a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, but Probation Before Judgement)...you pay court fees and keep your nose clean for a year and wash your hands of the whole thing).
