To the local pd,

Are we allowed to ride a horse to the ice cream shop or is there local law that prohibits that?

We know that one is allowed to ride a bike and NOT a skateboard.

KATY

Maybe to there you could, but you can’t ride them at the Hopewell Recreation Complex, nor can you ride your bike there. But guess what, the sign says nothing about skateboards. However, good luck skating there smile

I suspect you would be required to pick up any poop.

Sure, but my point being is to find out if there is a law that prevents one from taking their horse to the ice cream shop? We already know it is okay to take a bike and NOT a skateboard.

I think horses can have sno-cones, but not soft-serve.

That is unless he is the talking horse, The Famous Mr. Ed!  He can have soft serve.  Wonder if an Amish buggy has ever hit an Amish kid on one of those fancy skateboard skooters they have?  Hoof prints on the forehead.

I guess we don’t have any local Amish in our community. They are further east I think? Anyway, I would love to see someone ride their horse to the icecream shop if it is legal. Being that folks are able to ride bikes and NOT skateboards. My point is I bet anything there is not a local law that prevents that because perhaps no one has tried to.  I’m sure some folk around here have horses?

Yes, the Amish are closer than you realize.  I have gotten behind an open buggy and passed them in the New Park/Gatchelville area when going to & from my daughter’s horse riding lessons at Muddy Creek Meadows.  Pretty cool, I think.

I haven’t been there but why not-- is it against the local law? Also, now that we are talking about what is prohibited locally in certain areas is it just skateboarders are not allowed? What about if you want to roller skate vice skateboard? Is that also prohibited? I need to look over the local ordanences closer but my guess is some of them should probably be changed/gotten rid of. I mean, sooner there will be more things that a person can’t do instead of can. v/r, KATY

Dunno why you can’t and it really doesn’t bother me that I can’t. As it is, I have plenty of places to ride my horses. You’d have to call the number on the sign to get your answer.  cheese

Why did you say good luck skateboarding there if it is not posted that one cannot? I do not skateboard but would like to know. It seems to me whoever made the sign should have thought it out more carefully.  If you think about it, if you listed everything you couldn’t do there wouldn’t be too many things to do afterwards! v/r, KATY

Because it is all gravel there.

Well since you aren’t allowed to skate in the street or on a sidewalk or a public parking lot, it seems we better learn to skate on gravel and grass, so maybe we’ll check it out!

Not sure if it legal on the street out there or not. The borough does NOT have control of that smile

I have read it several times, and seems that if you pay the $15 in the overnight box that you can avoid all of the other horrible fines $25-$300 and possible 30 days of imprisonment.  My question wasn’t what does it say, but I wanted an interpretation of it.  Doesn’t say what repeat offenders get, if anything at all.  I guess what I’m saying is if we can just drop off the $15, then that’s what we’ll do. Also, I noticed that this was signed into law on January 6, 2003; which means it’s not to dusty at all!  See you at the meeting.

I don’t know the EXACT law, but I was told that “repeat offenders” would get bigger fines and if the parents are contributing, or paying for it over and over, something gets fined to the parents of the “repeat offenders”....again, not exact, but I know you can’t continuously do that, nice thought tho :)
(btw, also against the law, have skateboarding nephews and son, stinks, but the cops around here dont care, anything to give a ticket!)
