Hello there,

My name is Christen. Most of you probably know Margie, she’s involved in bunches of stuff in the community and South Eastern School District. She’s my mama.

I just got involved in this forum so that I can become more informed of what’s going on but also I would love to get my name out about my artwork and what i’m hoping to do.

Ok, now you’ve probably lost interest right? Come oonnnnn, I’m really cute and witty, full of personality and jokes!

But for real, I’m 21 and I feel as though my life should have started 3 years ago. The majority of the people I know are graduating college in the spring or have already graduated with jobs and houses and babies. Not so much the baby part, but the rest of this is something I am hoping to achieve, however, I’ve basically started over. I’m an adult freshman at York College but alas, I have finally discovered what it is that I truly want to do! I am trying to become an art therapist.

So in the meantime, I’m working at Applebee’s and trying to run this little art business on the side. I do paintings and photography as well as some cute crafts and things. It’s not your traditional “country home” stuff that you see so much of around these parts. Yes red and cream colored plaid stuffed chickens with button eyes are cute, metal stars for barns are in this season, but I’m trying to do something different.

I feel like my work really speaks to your heart. It’s not abstract, it’s not even oozing technique and composition. It’s just exactly what you’re feeling when you look at it. You look at a painting about having your heart broken and you remember what that feels like, you identify with it. You see a painting about loving someone, you love them more. I’m trying to get people to look at my work and really feel something. I mean for real. “aw” when i hear an “aw” that does it for me, that’s what I want, that means it hit you.

I think it’s really important to remember how important love is in our lives. So I really want everyone to look at what I’ve done and maybe spread the word.

Have I kept your attention? I hope so! Well listen, I have a little gallery that I split with my mom and my Aunt Dorothy. Mama sells porcelain dolls and stuff, my Aunt makes beautiful crystal earings and I have my work up for sale. Nothing costs more than $35 and most are considerably less. Except for a really nifty guitar I painted and the dolls.

We’re at the Shops @ 16 N. Main St. in Shrewsbury. We’re on the third floor, right as you go upstairs.  We’re open 11 AM - 5 PM everyday, except Wednesdays.

If you want, check some of my stuff out! http://www.myspace.com/killerqueenphoto

Thanks for your time, please stop by the shop!

I thought you might like to see a sample of my aunt’s earrings and my artwork.  All the earrings hanging on the trees are just $15 a pair.  All her earrings are made of either surgical steel or sterling silver, with genuine Swavorski crystals.  My artwork speaks for itself.  I had to make the pics so small, you really can’t appreciate it.  So, stop by our little shop.  We’re right at the top of the stairs on the 3rd floor.

Hey!  The Shops @ 16 N Main was voted York County’s 2008 second best in “Specialty Gifts” and third in “Craft Stores”...and we’ve only been open for 7 months!  See the insert in today’s York Sunday News - “The Best of York County”.

If you haven’t stopped by yet, come on in and see why.
