I have AT & T/Cingular and no service in Stewartstown today.  Once my husband got to 83 he had service.  Anyone else having the same trouble?

Stewartstown is a horrible place for cell phones

Read on WGAL’s website that AT&T;is down in the Susquehanna Valley area and they are working to fix it as soon as they can.

Until today we’ve never had a problem.  Then of course, right after I made the post, we had service.  Thanks.

yes!  I thought it was my phone.  I did not have service in New Freedom, Shrewsbury or Stewartstown.  When I got to Fawn Grove I had service.  This happened a few weeks ago as well.

This is a widespread AT&T;problem affecting Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.  It’s being worked on.  You’re service will be up and down until it is fixed.

My service has worked all day.  Given our phone line was snipped this morning while having a fence installed, I’ve been using my cell a lot with no problems.

In case anyone missed it, there were two fiber lines cut.  One in PA and one in NY.  This effected the backbone of pretty much every AT&T;cell tower in quite a wide range.  Ultimately AT&T;shut down broadcast on most towers in order to allow phones to roll over to other carriers.  This did effect some internet access as well.

I have Sprint service, who has merged with Nextel and their service has been very bad lately............i am losing calls all the time and hardly have service anywhere....when we had Nextel we had no problems at all. It is very frustrating once you are used to having good signal and then having to deal with this issue! I cant wait till my contract is over, I am going to Verizon!! Is anyone else having problems with their Sprint service?

We had sprint up until a couple of months ago and it was awful, but I think we are in the worst part of town for cell service.  Now we have verizon, it is better, but still not great.  We live in Poplar Springs.  Seems like the closer I am to the tower at the fairgrounds, the worse the service is (for both Verizon and Sprint)

I had the same problem when I was trying to call home. That was somewhere around 11:40AM TO 11:50AM close to lunch time.  mad

I also had a difficult time in placing intestate calls Monday and Tuesday. I kept getting a busy signal and my cell phone screen read “Lines Full.” I tried calling several different intestate phone numbers and it was the same story.... “Lines Full.” hmmm

No, I didn’t hear about two cable lines being snipped.  blank stare Thanks for sharing that with us.  smile

The water towers in town have a Nextel Antenna array on them. This was worked out with the borough and the township. The tower at the Community center is ATT. Verizon is spotty to lousy in Stewartstown but I believe they are negotiating with the township for a second tower at the community center.

Like I said, there was an application for a variance at the fairgrounds for a tower.  I believe it was planned to be taller than the original one.

Lovinlife - I had Sprint for a little over 5 years up until recently and I liked them, aside from a few random issues.  I had the service when I was living in Chester County and still when I returned to Fawn Grove and I felt like I had good signal.  When they merged with Nextel, the only change I had was that customer service was different, but every time I complained I got 60 minutes free a month.

We switched to Verizon for more economical family plan reasons and signal at my house is not as good as Sprint was.  Oh well...win some, lose some…

Once again AT&T;cell phone service was down for at least 3 1/2 hours Friday afternoon.  mad  For hours I tried calling one of my doctors in Maryland as well as a couple of other businesses in Maryland. I tried calling a friend in WV and no luck.  mad All I kept receiving was a message “channel not available!” angry

I sent my friend in WV an e-mail message telling them I had been trying to call them but can’t get a channel.  angry  They called me after receiving my e-mail message and had no problem accessing a channel.  smile

A family member tried to call me several times and they were in town. They couldn’t get a channel either.  angry  They have TracFone.

Did anyone else have cell phone problems Friday? downer
