Hendrix once said at a concert “You gotta check out this guy Terry Kath. His band is Chicago Transit Authority. He’s the best guitar player in the universe.”

Chicago was great, The Doobies were incredible, but at the end of the show they merged the two bands (if you can imagine) and played about 5 hits of each.  Talk about a wall of sound!!

Took my son to see Wall-E, we both liked it. Had some funny scenes in it.

Just received notice that my son made the Dean’s List at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)!  We are very proud of him!

Terry Kath was probably one of the most underrated guitarists of our era.  He was a master of the wah-wah guitar sound and his solo on 25 or 6 to 4 is still one of the best.
Check him out on early Chicago I-VI---he was amazing and had a truly incredible voice. 
The unbelievable part is Chicago is still not part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Especially hard to believe since they are the #2 best selling American groups in history and have influenced so many other groups.

Check him out on early Chicago I-VI---he was amazing and had a truly incredible voice. 
The unbelievable part is Chicago is still not part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Especially hard to believe since they are the #2 best selling American groups in history and have influenced so many other groups.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is cool for memorabilia and a walk through history, beyond that, the nomination and induction process is a complete joke and sham, all my opinion of course.

Uh, yeah, that places them fifth, behind The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kiss and Aerosmith, for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums by a rock band.  This doesn’t even get into the musical specifics, their precision, stage shows, opera/concept type albums, a bass player that plays keys with his feet, what Neal Peart has done as an influence to other drummers, etc. etc.  That’s just one sad example of how the RnR HoF is a joke, I’m sure you can find many more.

I agree with 4 of the latest inductees. I am eagerly awaiting AC/DC’s new album to come out (crappy part is: it’ll be a walmart exclusive!!)

Chic?  What the heck did they ever do?  Although I dont care much for Madonna, she has had a large impact on the music world.  John Mellencamp?  John Cougar?  That guy never did much besides play middle of the road top 4 trash.  The Beasties changed things up quite a bit, and should probably be there too.  I guess that with admitting so many other crap bands the entrance criteria now seems to be pretty much wide open.

Dang!  I don’t see MC Hammer either - LOLOL - just kidding - he is one of my favorite characters in music though!!

Like many others, we elected to vacation at home this year for a week.  We live in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, ya’ll!  Other people come here and stay in motels to see it.  We slept in the greatest Bed and Breakfast in the world, our house!  Ironically, we decided to do this in lieu of going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We took day trips to Lancaster, Hershey and Gettysburg.  In Lancaster, we went to some of the outlets across from The American Music Theater, such as the Big Dog store, then saw a great show.  When the kids were younger we would have gone to Dutch Wonderland.

In Hershey, if you go to a show there, you get half off the price of your park tickets.  Long day, but a great one.  At Gettysburg the new visitor’s center is excellent, but the Cyclorama won’t be ready for viewing until the end of September.  For $55 you can have a guide take you around the park for two hours in your own car.  I figured my kids might pay attention if it was someone other than me talking, not to mention the fact that he was way more knowledgeable.  Between the big days, we rested.

In a month, we’ll go to Ocean City with the rest of the lemmings, but we already had a great week in a beautiful, fun part of the country!

Our daughter’s softball team (Harford Xtreme) competed in the 13U USSSA fastpitch World Series ending with a fifth place National finish!  Way to go, ladies!

I hear they have a pretty good catcher/2nd basmen/right fielder

PA is a beautiful place to live. My nephew comes up and stays for weekends at a time. To him is is amazing the amount of trees that suround us and he never sees a horse until he comes here. It truly is just beautiful around here.

Since I have had a bad day, I thought that I would resurrect The Positive Thread..............

Although, I had I bad day it could have been worse. I woke up this morning, that is great compared to the alternative.  I had a nice breakfast, and there are those in the world that had none.  I was able to accomplish most of what I set out to do today, so there is a sense of accomplishment there too.

And lastly, I really appreciate the banter and camaraderie with my cyber friends on the SYC Life forum!
