RSJ - 26 July 2008 06:25 PM I’d rather wished it was haunted, it was just the product of running a job over the System and hope it doesn’t effect anyone. It did. I’ve had similar run-ins with others that are not so funny or made so funny, Bobby knows, lol Now that was a ghost.
Yeah, it’s a ‘ghost’ now. Of course, one that still haunts memories...HAHA!

I’m brining back an old thread. How is the Armstrong Service been? Anyone still having TV issues? I was looking through their channel line-up and it seems they have added some services and their prices seem competeitive (I had to call for prices, since it isn’t on their web site). We’ve got a HD TV now and are tring to figure out which route (ie cheapest) to go to get HD programming. I’m just wondering what everyone’s experience has been since Armstrong took over. Any input would be appreciated.

Have standard cable and internet. Initially there were sporadic interruptions or brief outages of internet service. For the past 2 months or so though every time I went to use the internet, it was there and uninterrupted for the duration of use. Same for the cable TV. No reason to call, so I cannot speak for that.
Just wondering when the ‘clearviewcatv.net’ email address will change.

Other than the Channel additions(and a few subtractions) and the price drop(roughly 9bucks for me) everything is the same. The quality isn’t any better on the channels that were having some issues like Channel 2. They’ve separated the HD Channels and placed them on 1 part of the spectrum and moved the other good ones all over the 300’s. I’m relearning the channels.
The internet is the same sluggish, reset the modem every once in a while deal. When I talked to them back in July they didn’t have any plans in place to change the EMail address and per the techies I talked to it would be one of the last things they do. Basically the Clearview staff for the internet was kept on.
So basically they added NFL Network and gave me 9bucks, not bad, lol

Do you have to pay extra for their HD? What are the HD channels? If anyone knows, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I’m not thrilled with them. We routinely didn’t have problems with Clearview (routinely). However, since Armstrong took over, we’ve had to reset our modem at least once daily. The cable’s not been so hot either. Comedy Central is awful at times and other channels skip in/out occasionally.
We’ve also noticed that our power is tripping/flickering multiple times a day. I need an extra hour to reset all the clocks! I’m beginning to wonder if the increase in the power ‘burps’ is affecting the cable in any way.

The local channels, discovery, and I believe MASN are available in HD without the box.
I recently just got the box to get the channel upgrades (the 17new HD channels) the problem is this; I’m now paying $15 extra a month, I get 5 new HD channels and the other HD channels I already get in SD or already get for free in HD without the box. I thought I was getting all the higher digital channels (or that’s what they led me to believe) but that’s not the case, I have to pay another 11 or something for those.
Also our quality with the set top box went down, significantly on SD channels, as a matter of fact I’ve now split the cable and use the set top box for the HD and dvr purposes and switch to the other input on the tv for SD. They were out to check once and said it seemed fine, I asked the guy if he was nuts or blind because its terribly static-e and blurry. They now have “boosted” the signal twice and say they want to come back out, I told em never mind after the 4$ promotion for the box ends I’ll send it back and go right back to my old bill, old channel lineup, and old better quality. Surprisingly enough they didn’t even care or try to stop me, she just said “no problem sir you can return that box to your home office” lol.

Thanks. That was the kind of info I wanted to know. It appears that not a whole lot has changed. I guess I will just switch satellite providers and try to get a deal with them. Maybe one day the cable in this area will be up to par with other areas, but now that Armstrong has bought out Clearview, it appears it will be many years before any significant changes to the infrastructure is done.

What satellite provider do you have now? I had Dish and changed to Directv about 2 years ago and I am very happy with Directv. If you are going from Dish to Direct, find a friend that has Direct and ask them to get a Directv card for new friends. It saves you and your friend $50, and it will not cost your friend anything.
