Has anyone heard of York city’s mayor “Happy Meal Plan?” I thought it was a joke at first but it seems it isn’t. The city mayor expects everyone in the county to write him a check for the cost of one Happy Meal so he can start his New Year off with $1 million dollars in the city bank account.  I oppose sending the cost of one Happy Meal to the city mayor when there are so many homeless people that would enjoy eating a Happy Meal. I am going to contribute the cost of 6 Happy Meals in the mayor’s name to a local needy family. I cannot in good conscience participate in the mayor’s Happy Meal plan when I read in the newspaper that he is proposing to reward several of his staff members a pay raise.

I read in yesterdays’s news that the governor of one state, which I might add is already a millionaire is opting to not get his $150,000 salary, but to use it to increase his staff’s pay and to attract one or two outside of government staff people.  At least he is putting his money where his mouth is.

I wonder how much the York City Mayor contributed?

Not only is governor Romney forfeiting his annual salary his lieutenant governor is doing the same. Both Romney and his lieutenant governor are very wealthy according to the newspaper article I read.

As for York City’s mayor, he may have contributed the cost of 2 Happy Meals. He was supposed to forfeit his increase in salary of $1,000. I haven’t read anything in the local newspapers mentioning that he did this. I recall reading that the mayor makes approximately $60,000 a year.

I could not help but notice last week two volunteers from York City’s Helping Hand soliciting funds in front of WalMart. I guess it is more important that the mayor have $1 million in his hip pocket than to take care of needy people.
