Does anyone use MTWirefree for a service provider?
If you do, how would you rate them.
Thanks for any info you have.

I personally have not signed up with them (yet).  But I am considering it.  Mostly because I am getting really tired of the slow connection that 56K offers, and would like something alittle faster.  While I was searching for a local internet provider I came across MTWirefree.  I also saw some reviews, and they all were pretty positive about it.

kruck19sr, if you have MTWirefree as a service provider, can you please post any problems that you’ve had that could aid me in my decision, I would really appreciate it.  That goes for every other MTWirefree member in Stewartstown.wink

I’ve had them for a couple months. Outages are frequent, but don’t last very long. Up to 2 weeks ago, I was pretty satisfied with them, but then they exchanged my radio, and they said they changed some other hardware and now my pings are pathetic. Me & my step-son play online games a lot. Low pings was my main concern. I showed them how high the pings were coming out of their router. He said a week ago that they will try some things. I don’t know if they’ve done anything, but so far, nothings changed. Web browsing and downloading is fine.

I’ve used them for about two months.  The initial two weeks were up and down due to a problem with the antenna installation, but since then the service has been first-rate.  Outages are few and customer service is very good.  The download speed is usually quite a bit better than the 256K advertised, even on weekends.  I would recommend.

I didn’t have time before to really explain. Don’t get me wrong, overall I’m pleased with my service. I may have seen more outages because when I get home in the morning from work and get on the net, I believe that’s the time they take care of maintenance issues. Except for one outage, all have been only 5-15 mins. I have seen download speeds of 500-600K at times. I ran the speed tests at dslreports a couple times this week and saw 284K down, 90K up and 175K down and 554K up. That test was strange. Never seen upload speeds greater than download. Hooking up my router was a piece of cake. No configuration needed at all. For these guys just starting out, the service is great. I think it’s very commendable that they are trying to provide this service in an area that none of the big name companies will touch in a long time, if ever. Even though I’m not thrilled with my ping times lately, I think anyone who wishes to have high speed internet should give them a try.
Pahoa, could you do me a small favor? If you are on the 65.171.69.x subnet, could you run ping -t 144.223.11.245 and see what you come up with? I’m not pointed at the Stewartstown access point. I go to a ham radio tower in a trailer park on Plank Rd. I’d like to see if there’s a difference. Thanks.... cheese
