CALL TO ACTION: 

We’ve tried repeatedly to get the two major party gubenatorial candidates, Governor Ed Rendell and challenger, Lynn Swann to understand how much damage the corrupt property taxes are doing to our people, our state and our communities. Instead they both have totally ignored the 117,802 people who have signed STOP petitions and the 1.2 million Pennsylvanians those signatures represent. Instead, they offer woefully inadequate and pathetic temporary band-aid solutions to this cancerous tax.

My aunt was telling me at church yesterday of a TV show in Pittsburgh on Sunday morning that chronicled the cruel and heartless eviction of a very elderly woman by the local sheriff because she could not pay her property taxes. Imagine the trauma and humiliation this poor woman was enduring as she was escorted from her home. The home was sold at sheriff sale to a speculator who ignores the pain he and the county are causing this woman...and sees only the money he will make from buying her home for a pittance--doing some repairs and reselling it for a huge profit. This scene is repeated an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 times every year in Pennsylvania. Any equity the woman had in her home beyond her alleged ‘debt to society’ was stolen from her by the county and given to the new owner. The County officials and sheriff are aiding and abetting this legalized theft...but then so are the rest of us who sit silently by while this disgrace occurs. How morally corrupt we have become as a state to allow such cruel things to happen...without so much as a whimper from the public, the religious leaders, the elected officials who disagree with such practices, and the courts. We estimate these travesties occur 30,000 to 40,000 times a year across the commonwealth.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO CHANGE THIS DISGRACE? 

ON ELECTION DAY TOMORROW:  BE SURE TO VOTE...AND URGE EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO VOTE AS WELL.  DO NOT VOTE FOR RENDELL OR SWANN.  DO NOT VOTE FOR YOUR LEGISLATORS WHO HAVE NOT CONVINCED YOU THEY ARE SINCERE ABOUT ABOLISHING ALL PROPERTY TAXES ON PRIMARY RESIDENCES.  VOTE FOR THEIR OPPONENTS.  IF ALL OF THE INCUMBENTS ARE RE-ELECTED THEY WILL BE EVEN MORE ARROGANT AND UNRESPONSIVE IN THE FUTURE.  AND THE CHANCE FOR TRUE PROPERTY TAX REFORM--ABOLISHMENT OF ALL PROPERTY TAXES ON PRIMARY RESIDENCES---IS DEAD.
YOU HAVE TWO OPPORTUNITIES AT DEFEATING THESE UNCARING ELECTED OFFICIALS...TOMORROW...AND IN NOVEMBER.  VOTE BOTH TIMES. 

TAKE SOME BAND-AIDS TO THE POLLS WITH YOU...AND IF YOU ENCOUNTER YOUR LEGISLATOR OR ONE OF HER\HIS POLL WORKERS--OR POLL WORKERS FOR RENDELL OR SWANN, GIVE THEM A BAND-AID AND MAKE IT CLEAR YOU ARE NOT VOTING FOR THEM TODAY...AND WON’T IN THE FUTURE.  TELL THEM PROPERTY TAX REDUCTIONS ARE A FRAUD...AND LIKE PUTTING A BAND-AID ON A GUSHING WOUND.

GOVERNOR, OR CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR OR LT.GOVERNOR, THAN TO HAVE PEOPLE CHOOSE A SCHNOODLE DOG AND A CAT AS THEIR FAVORED CADIDATES RATHER THAN AN INCUMBENT GOVERNOR OR A HUMAN CHALLENGER.
