Hello,

The Northern Baltimore County Unit of the Young Marines will be holding 3 recruitment sessions for a new recruit class.  See the attached flyer for more information.  Also visit the following web address to learn more about the Young Marines http://www.youngmarines.com/New_site_06/aboutus.htm

My son Jacob, 11, recently graduated from boot camp and enjoys the time spent at weekly drills.  During the drills, he does calisthenics, marching and classroom activities such as American history, public speaking, CPR, camping skills, & map reading.  He enjoys the camaraderie of the unit and loves spending time with kids having the same interests.  I recently became a Registered Adult Leader and help out during drills, encampments, and whenever else I am needed.

Thanks for your time.
I hope to see you at one of the recruitment sessions.

Darrin

Never heard of the Young Marines before. Very interesting. No disrespect intended, but it sounds very similar to the Cub/Boy Scouts. Is it a similar program intended to get the youth interested in the military?

Most of the youths coming to the Young Marines already have an interest in History and the Military.  The YM’s is not a recruiting office for the Marines.  Like the boy scouts, it gives the youths structure, physical fitness, adventure, and intellectual stimulations outside the home and school.  All of this is done in Marine Corps structure and fashion.  Thanks for your inquiry.
