Regarding Kix reunion shows in ‘07 ~
No, we did not go last year. Mainly because the Rams Head Live show fell on my kids birthday weekend. My daughter’s birthday is 9/20 and my son’s is 9/22. The last time we saw Kix was at the House of Rock in Sept. of ‘05. The band was awesome as usual but, the venue oversold the tickets and it was packed. So packed you could not walk through the crowd to get to the bathroom. And it was horribly hot. Thank God I know people with the band (and in the band). My friend sells merchandise and her husband does the lights and set-up for both Kix and Funny Money. Luckily, I was able to sit on the merchandise table so, I had a seat and a little breathing space. Plus, I helped to protect my friend from getting squashed by rude people pushing the table into her.
I think we will go to show on Sept 13 at RHL this year. Rams Head Live is a cool venue and the shows there are typically all ages. My 9 yr old son has been driving me nuts to go see Funny Money and/or Kix. So, this will be a good opportunity to go. And since I have “connections” he can meet the band. He has already met Ronnie Younkins from Kix and seen his band The Blues Vultures play. He also has a drumhead signed by the members of Funny Money and Ronnie was nice enough to sign it for him too. Ronnie and his wife are two of the nicest people you could ever meet.
So, if you are a Kix fan, go see Funny Money and The Blues Vultures. You won’t be disappointed. Funny Money plays both Kix songs and Funny Money originals. The Funny Money original songs are as good as, if not better than the Kix songs. The Blues Vultures does not play any Kix songs but, they play other covers and their own originals.
I have heard of Hexbelt but, never seen them or heard their music. Dave Sancsoucie from Hexbelt played at KevFest last year. It was a fund-raiser for my friend’s brother who had cancer. Steel played too and they were awesome!
I still like 80’s and 90’s stuff but, I really like the newer rock that is out there today. I love Papa Roach, Disturbed, Puddle of Mudd, Airborne, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, etc.
In rotation in my car cd player recently, its’ been: Papa Roach “The Paramour Sessions”; Puddle of Mudd “Famous”; Cinder Road - self titled
Cinder Road is a local band from Timonium, MD who recently released their first cd on a major label. They just came off a tour where they opend for Tesla. They were formerly called Plunge. Mike Ruocco is from Cinder Road in Timonium and his parents still live there. I think he does too. Cinder Road is playing at The Recher Theater in Towson in May.
I’m listening to a CD a coworker made- he trades on Limewire and always makes us great mix CD’s. This one is Acoustic 11 and has some great stuff on it.
Right now in my rotation is (and this is the abbreviated form): Pornos For Pyros, Drive-By Truckers, Neil Diamond, Gordon Lightfoot, Depeche Mode, Cure, Cult, THe Jesus Lizard, Dead Kennedy’s, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Dierks Bentley, George Strait (50 Greatest Hits and the new one: Trobadour), Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Gomez, B.R.M.C., Kix, AC/DC, Afghan Whigs, The Animals, Band of Horses, Barry Manilow, Beastie Boys....shall I continue??? Oh and my Smodcast episodes, don’t leave home withouot them.
Almost. I didnt notice anything from Vivaldi, Beethoven, Tchaikowski, Strauss, etc.
Nope none of them, though I do have some on my hard drive. however, I do have lots of Bluegrass, Jazz, and some blues on there as well. Once I get back to my computer with the iTunes on it, I shall post a full listing
