Hi Everyone,

My brother-in-law Guy Hrubovcak, age 52 was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer March, 2007. He is my husband Bill’s baby brother. He is like a baby brother to me too because I’ve known him since he was 14 years old.

My mother-in-law telephone a couple of hours ago to say it won’t be long now as the cancer has spread into his color and he is pain. He has slipped into an unconscious state.

I was just discharged from the hospital May 26 after battling a near fatal case of pneumonia. I am still under doctor’s orders and am taking baby steps in recovering. The doctor said I am not to be exposed to any anxiety or stress right now. Two hours after I was discharged from the hospital, my husband Bill had to relay bad news. My 93-year-old father Michelangelo Joseph Mariani died Sunday May 25th around 5:00PM . The doctor’s orders prevented me from traveling to Pittsburgh to attend my Daddy’s viewing, funeral and burial. He was my last surviving parent. I decided to hold Jesus’ hand and rest in Jesus’ arms and let Him take care of everything while I recover.

Since I’ve been discharged from the hospital, I sent out an e-mail message asking family, friends, acquaintances, e-mail friends, and strangers to pray for me and ask others to pray for me to recover and to have Our Lord bless me with strength, courage, bravery and hold my hand as I travel this path of restoring my oxygen levels to excellent health and to hold my hand as I travel this path of mourning the death of my Daddy. I also ask for prayers for Bill and I and our families.

I have a special favor to ask of everyone which is at 9:00PM this evening June 3rd, eastern standard time, or as soon as you receive/read this, everyone come together in Our Lord’s name on behalf of Guy and pray for him to rest in Jesus’ arms.

I have placed my faith in Our Lord and have prayed that Guy live until his 53rd birthday this coming August. Everything is in Our Lord’s hands.

My health since March 2007 has prevented me from visiting with Guy. Guy and I have exchanged countless phone calls with each other since last year. The last time we talked on the phone was 3 weekends ago. He had just returned from his lifetime dream to visit Nashville which was fulfilled by our niece Dawn Aston who is a nurse. Dawn treated her godfather and Uncle Guy and his wife Lori to a trip to Nashville . They stayed at Gaylord and went to see Ole Opry and enjoy a concert starring Aaron Tippin, Vince Gill and other long time well known country music artists. Carrie Underwood was inducted into the Hall of Fame that evening.

Guy and I talked about his trip and how awesome a place Gaylord is.

Our niece Dawn’s boyfriend accompanied Dawn, Guy and Lori that weekend. Guy was so happy when he returned.

I told Guy I didn’t want to keep him on the phone long because he needed rest. I told him we would talk again and told him that Bill and I are always thinking about him, praying for him, miss him and love him. The last words Guy said to me as he always does “Me Too.”

UPDATE....

I wish to thank everyone for their prayers for my brother-in-law.

After I posted my first prayer request, within 24 hours my brother-in-law was placed in isolation and only his wife could visit him. There was no antibiotic available at the time that would fight the infection in Guy’s large intestine.  downer  Guy was allergic to the couple of antibiotics they attempted to try to beat the infection.  downer

I telephoned my mother-in-law Tuesday morning for an update. Great news! The doctors found an antibiotic that works and is fighting the infection.  My mother-in-law said it is possible that Guy might even be discharged Tuesday or Wednesday! smile

Please continue to pray for Guy at 9:00PM every day until such time Our Lord decides to call him home.

Before I was hospitalized I was working on making a dream/wish for Guy through an organization called “Never Too Late,” which I found out about through Barb Titanish of H.O.P.E.  smile He loves the Pittsburgh Steelers! I was hoping to arrange a Meet and Greet with The Pittsburgh Steelers at one of their exhibition games this summer. Once hospitalized I had to place that on a back burner.  long face

I mentioned this dream/wish for Guy to my mother-in-law on the phone Tuesday and she said not to pursue it because it would take a great toll on Guy. She mentioned that the doctor has forbidden him from traveling. She said when family members visited him he felt obligated that he had to stay awake which took its toll on him making him weak. No one expected him to stay awake or talk. They simply wanted to be by his bedside. She seems to think that if I pursue this dream/wish for him making a change in that instead of his attending a Pittsburgh Steelers exhibition game, have a couple of Pittsburgh Steelers visit him at his residence or really surprise him and have a couple of Pittsburgh Steelers visit a family members residence and transport him there.

Right now I’m still praying and hoping that Our Lord will recharge Guy’s batteries and provide him with the strength needed that he could handle attending an exhibition game or the Steelers visiting him. I placed everything on a back burner for now until such time I receive word that his energy has increased. A miracle cure would even be better.

Thank you again for your prayers.

God Bless You.
