We had a problem a while back that sounds like yours, RSJ.  It was fixed when they upped the signal strength to my area.

They told me the modem struggles with a weak signal for a while then drops it.

After I called them last night I was sent to Level 2 Support, I felt honored that I made such a jump in less than a week of complaining. They said they would check the Signal strength in the house when the Tech gets here on Wednesday. They seem to think the Splitter in the house from wall to TV & Internet does not have enough signal strength. Cool, I’m thinking, I mean everything was working for well over 6-7 Years before last Thursday. Now I’m worried I have some Mice, Squirrels or some stupid Rabbit stealing my Cable. I have to clean out underneath my deck more often. I guess things break over time, lol

Makes me wonder if they have an Option 3? Stay tuned, lol

As far as needing to buy both Cable or Internet? I don’t know, but here is the number 800 572 1038 Option 1, 1 for Cable, Option 1, 2 for Internet. I think its Option 2 for New Service, I haven’t got that far lately

I have a stupid question - do you have to have Armstrong’s cable TV service to get their internet service?

If the deal is the same as Clearview’s then no.  But I think it’s more expensive if you don’t have any cable service.

Has anyone noticed certain channels being funky from time to time?

I noticed last night that the tv was having pulses where the picture would go dark and the sound would go “shhhhh” and then it would pop back on.  That might be the tv though, because I only saw it happen on 1 tv and that thing has got to be around 20 years old.  Also, I suppose it could have been the channel.  I didn’t feel like changing it to see if it was happening on other channels.

That is part of what I have going on now. Not sure how some wield the remote control, but I’m a channel to channel TV Watcher and my Wife will bring up the On-Line Guide. Either of these now are enough to shut off the Converter Box. When I change channels any where from 4-10 channel clicks this will cause the box/set to pop, black screen, hiss sound or no sound, turn off etc… When we press the guide, setup or OK button, this will cause the box/set to pop, black screen, hiss sound or no sound, turn off etc… It’s very annoying and it happens regularly

Bobby, I always have had issues with Clearview/Armstrong Channel 2, 3, 4 and now 5 are not the best of Pictures. For me this is a fight for another year, I just want it to stay on, lol.

When I got home the Internet was down, I called got it back on-Line myself and they are going to include this issue Wednesday when their Tech gets here. Maybe I’ll get a HD compatible Cable Modem that will turn off everytime I click on SYCLife.com.

Well the Tech showed up Wednesday Morning as scheduled, I am at work, so my Wife called me to inform me of this. I’m thinking O Boy more stories and I’m not there to take it all in.
The Tech is on his A Game this Morning. He replaced all the replaceable hardware he could out front in the cable box, fitted us with brand new splitters and amplifiers coming in as well as in the house or at least that is what he told me. Not sure if he left the hardware remains for my viewing pleasure. Then he asks me, why do you have HD Compatible Converter Boxes when you don’t have HD TV’s, I had no answer, imagine that. I told him the other Tech installed them and I’ll tell you what I told him, Fix it. He replaced my HD Compatible boxes with the Digital Boxes I’m supposed to have. I asked him to stay around for about 10 minutes once he’s done, just because that is what I thought of the experience so far, he did. Per him everything is fine and working and we’re three hours into and I have not received a call from my Kids telling me the TV or Internet is down. Of course after this past week, I doubt if I’ll ever hear those words from them again. So now we can go back to the normal phone calls such as, the Dogs ran away, the Dogs ate the garden, the Dogs found more rabbits, the Kids are going to the emergency room, the wife is melting down and can’t wait for school to start, the Wife leaves the gate open hoping the Dogs will run away, but the Kids shut it and contain the chaos to our backyard(lucky for the neighbors I suppose), you get the Picture and when I get home, hopefully I’ll see the picture. Why do I feel this won’t be my last post on the subject.

About the only option for high-speed internet in my area is Clearview/Armstrong.  I wanted it because my daughter takes some of her classes online.  Two years ago, I had to fight with Clearview to get them to run the cable back to my house.  They will run it 300’ off the road for free and the subscriber must pay from there.  I told them I would pay - it took over 4 months to get them to do it.  Everytine I called, they said you are more than 300’ off the road and I said I know!  I’ll pay for the extra footage!  Finally, after calling everyday, they ran the cable for free.  However, we HAD to get local cable TV from them in order to get the internet.  We don’t need the TV service, but have to pay $19.95 a month for it anyway.  We couldn’t get the Internet service without the TV service.

We got the internet service from Clearview without having to get TV. We just had to subscribe for their small business internet service. The cost of it was higher, but once you added the basic tv (which I didn’t want or need) to their normal internet service, I was actually paying about $5/month less for small business. It didn’t matter since I didn’t like the service and found that even their residential internet cost too much, so I switched to DSL when I could and am not looking back. I haven’t had one minute of trouble with the DSL, and after reading these stories, I am quite happy with satellite TV and DSL.

We never have problems with our Verizon DSL service either.  We don’t have much trouble with Clearview/Armstrong cable either.  The cable does blink off sometimes in a really hard rain or storm but, that’s it.

My only complaint is that I would like to have more music video channels like FUSE, MTV2 & VH1 Classic.  Maybe I can get them from Armstrong!

We’re 900’ from the nearest cable from them and every time I called offering to pay they wouldn’t do it, all they would say to me was “No”.

exactly the same with my neighbors and i. we’re 600’ and same thing as with Marge… after callling about 6 times in the course of 2 years and them saying “no”, the 6th time i callled, they ran it… and it ended up being for freee.

basicallly, Clearview are the sort of businesss that you love to hate… and i do. with a passsion. and a side of fries. with ketchup.

i hope Armstrong can show us how a bettter cable company works… more channnels please? i hate most of everything on cable… but i hear there is an Independent Film Channel and All Horror Channel… i would LOVE to have those!!!  big surprise i mean i might actuallly use my television for something more than gaming and a surfing the internet monitor big surprise

I’d still take Clearview the way it was over what I have now. Even if I had to buy thier basic cable TV to get the internet and never used it, it would still be cheaper than what I have now, lol.

I’d rather wished it was haunted, it was just the product of running a job over the System and hope it doesn’t effect anyone. It did. I’ve had similar run-ins with others that are not so funny or made so funny, Bobby knows, lol Now that was a ghost.
