Has anyone else had issues with 4-wheeler noise?  I live in New Park (Fawn Township) and the amount of noise that occurs at times is insane.  I like 4-wheelers and dirt bikes as much as the next guy.  But, everyone seems to now have after market kits to try and make their 4-wheelers as loud as possible.  At times I swear it would be quieter to move next to the Buck tractor pulls.  I have lived out here for years and have enjoyed the peace and quiet that comes with country living.  Unfortunately that peace and quiet is a thing of the past.  Are their any noise ordnances for York County or Fawn Township?  Something needs to change.

I always thought that the “country” peace and quiet consisted of rural noises...i.e. tractors, dirt bikes, atv’s, the occasional firearm discharge, etc., etc., etc.

I guess that is the price of progress.

When I was a kid the new residents used to complain all the time about the grass seed farmers firing propane guns to chase the geese away.

I guess it does now.  I guess it just comes down to respect.  I grew up around here and rode dirt bikes all the time.  However, I didn’t adjust the exhaust so it created as much noise as possible and ride it around my house and up and down the same stretch of road for 2 hours.  My father would have busted my @#$.  A person should be able to enjoy their backyard without having to deal with all of that.  Occasional is one thing, constant is another story.

Also, I’m not a newby to the area.  I’ve lived here all my life minus going away for college and my first job.  Now I’m raising kids around here and am thinking its time to get out of dodge.  Unfortunately, it will probably take 2 years to sell my home, which I really don’t want to sell, unless I’m willing to give it away.

You are right.  A little courtesy goes a long way!
