I noticed the new curbing was placed for the new Rutters. It would appear there are no plans for a turn or transition lane on Pennsylvania ave. If this is true this was a huge oversight by the borough and PENN DOT. Traffic will jam up on Pennsylvania ave on a regular basis.  Personally, I feel this was a horrible location for this enterprise. Traffic will be a real problem. I pity the people on Lee street because I certainly see it becoming the alternate route to avoid the Rutters jam. Does anyone know what pre-planning was done by the borough? Is Penn DOT finally going to enforce the large truck restriction on 851 through town??  The old Lumberyard lot would have been much better suited for this type of operation but I understand Rutters did not feel the lot was large enough. Oh well, community planning at its best.

Right, my thoughts too.
Likely, but they don’t care, Penn Dot doesn’t live here
You’re right, it will be a nightmare
Me too
Right again
Well, lots of people use that as an alternate, speed bumps will be coming shortly I predict
No, but obviously not enough
Not likely, considering Rutter’s is hoping to attract the diesel crowd.
Agreed, but then they’d have to tear down the asbestos filled building - too much $$

Every time I pass the intersection now, all I can think of (in my best monster voice) ‘WELCOME TO MEGA RUTTER’S!!’ I can’t wait until they light up the town like a Christmas tree with all their lights.  You should be able to see it on Google Earth at night...haha

The old building for the Lumberyard has been gone for quite some time, but they (Rutters) did have asbestoes issues with the house they tore down. The lumberyard was at the location of the large empty lot next to the rail tracks across from Bailey Springs on 851.

I pity the people who live right there by the new Rutters.  I bet they never thought in a million years that would happen to that corner.  With the value of homes down so low this isn’t going to help the value of those homes if they need or want to sell.  I wonder if it’s going to be ultra lit ... probably so with 16 pumps.  Does anyone know if it’s going to be open 24 hours?

vlc46 - Good point.  Lack of a left turn lane on PA Ave could definitely cause some hangups during busy times.  I bet it will be ok for the most part, but it would be nice if they at least left it so it was a future option.  If they did that, they may as well make the new center lane go all the way to the intersection and make it a left/straight lane while leaving the main road as a right turn only lane.  Of course that would probably require a traffic light.

This thread is getting “Mega”. Somewhere back in the thread...it says that there is going to be a traffic light. Not sure where though.

Well, it’s been there a while, and I have not seen many big accidents or horrible traffic backups since the new rutters went in, so the sky hasn’t fallen yet smile Biggest problem I see is the folks ignoring the PA Ave entrance/exit stop sign and those coming down from the square cutting the left turn so short, of course, the near bumper clip miss happens at every stop sign in town smile

The backups occur because someone always insists on making a left off PA Ave onto 24 at rush hour.  I haven’t noticed any significant difference since Rutter’s opened and I drive there daily.  Backups also occur because some drivers of large trucks still insist on not following directions and driving through town.

While I feel sorry for the guy who owns the house right next to Rutters with windows facing it, he probably doesn’t have much of an electric bill now because he probably does not need to turn on his own lights.  I am reminded of the Seinfeld episode when they put the chicken restaurant sign outside Kramer’s window.
