Yea, really going out and getting the most popular team in the country that just happens to be one of the state’s NFL teams...what the heck were they thinking
let’s see, they are the Steelers and Obama is trying to steal everything from us—yeah, that’s it!
....and global warming is causing pitts in the ice....burgs that Obama is stealing. but really it is all George Bush’s fault that the Steelers are coming instead of the Ravens or Eagles!
In all seriousness, it is cool that teams still have players that are willing to go out into the community. I still remember some baseball banquets in West Inverness when I was a kid where a bunch of Orioles (the good team years) would show up.

Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC. They have won more Superbowl titles (6), won more AFC Championship Games (7) and hosted more conference championship games (10) than any other AFC or NFC team. They have played in more AFC conference championship games than any other team and are tied with the Dallas Cowboys with 14 championship game appearances in either the NFC or AFC contests. With the exception of the 1960s which featured only three Super Bowls, the Steelers have appeared in at least one Super Bowl in every decade of the contest. The Steelers won their most recent championship, Super Bowl XLIII, on February 1, 2009.
Yeah, all the above and the fact that they are from Pennsylvania, geez, WHAT A POOR CHOICE...lol
Must need fans! Why else do you think they would be coming to Ravens’ territory? I say we all show up wearing purple!! Naaa, I’m not wasting my time (or money)!

Come on...don’t you want to see SESD faculty members cream the Steelers? Besides, the money raised goes to the Sports Boosters.

Uh, yeah, about that. . . I don’t want to speak for anyone organizing this event, but my own personal experience is that larger commitments like this including things even like tickets stay more or less in central MD. I know dealing with them personally I got the impression that they do not seem to consider this area part of their area. I am sure they are glad for the fans they have here, don’t get me wrong, but in dealing with them this is was my impression at least so far. Eagles on the other hand only volunteer out tickets to NPOs in and around the city. Though the Steelers have some more strict and better documented rules, they do seem to try to stretch out across the state more than the Eagles.
The thing about PA is that you don’t alway live in the shadow of a city like those growing up in central and eastern MD or even us here in SYC. I know specifically growing up in Jim Thorpe, that when someone asked us what football team we liked or who was our home team, we never gave it another thought always said, “The Olympians”. So now I just say “The Rams (and Olympians )”. This may just be one of those things that you have to grow up with to really understand.
