To all the complainers:
Be happy having an elected school board- if not, you would be Harford County Public Schools- the good ‘ol boys....We have a great school board- they have the students/teachers best interests at heart, if you could do a better job, you should have ran for the position. This area is chock full of complainers, why??? I am not sure

To:(Lucky), I have been in this district over 5 yrs now- I did my research before we bought a home here, and we picked this district. At one time I had a child in the local elementary, middle and high school at the same time- I have seen nothing but great things- my children have educationally thrived here, had opportunities handed to them on a silver platter by the talented young and seasoned staff members-of SESD- get involved, show your face, e mail, but be realistic- children arent perfect, we’re not perfect and neither is a budget crushed for dollars right now (the whole economy has taken a hit) Let’s support our educators- if we cant help with salaries, let’s write a note, make a positive phone call etc…

I think ALL educators are grossly underpaid, but it is across the board not just here- SESD has a nice salary structure comapred to many I have looked at
Thank you

Glad to be gone from there. I just stopped by to see the happenings in my old neck of the woods. Glad to see nothing changes there. Keep spending that money at the schools. Lord knows it HAS to be going for something good...right? That 3% increase every year could be used to save a third world country. Heck no, lets buy a Steinway piano. Let’s hire an outside law firm to investigate a high paid staff member. Sorry folks, I just think the power has gone to their (school board’s) head. Keep shelling out your hard earned cash. They really need it. It’s all for the kids...right? The kids.....right? The kids....right? Oh, sorry. I thought the schools were for the kids. My mistake. Keep paying for all this BS.....the hierarchy wants. They don’t care about the kids. It’s about the power and the money. Wake up people.

I went to my first SB meeting last night and I was appalled at the president’s condsending matter towards a lady who asked questions about the witch hunt.

This lady asked if there is a cap on the amount of spending on this “investigation”. She was told “There is no cap”. He (the president)also said “I’ll spend 30 million if I have to”
One lady who was sitting with teachers, (perhaps she is a teacher) laughed as if he said something funny. He obviously was trying to make a fool out of this lady who asked some questions.
He works for us the taxpayer and parents. HE obviously forgot that. He is spending our money not his.

Taxpayers: HE SAID “THERE IS NO CAP”.  You decide.

What a jackass, how could he say that and with the assumed aggitation. If you want to be treated and thought of as a professional, you should conduct yourself as a professional. I do not know the president, but with comments like that, he sounds as if he is on a power trip, and in real life he cannot do that, but on the board he has a little juice and can act ‘tough’.

Word of advice to the SB board members:

Next time you go to a party in another district, you might want to be careful who hears you when you talk very loudly about SB matters. Please don’t assume that nobody is there from SESD.

Do judge a man by what he says but by what he does. Sometimes ego makes one stumble over words and sometimes even choke on them. Perhaps this is a case of “foot in mouth” disease.

Why doesn’t it seem like a good idea for the boosters to raise money for a stadium?  Isn’t that the boosters job?  Raise money for sports items?

Apparently you only read the title.  I was referring to this:

The board approved a motion to hire NCS Group at $7,800 a month to help the district raise its goal of $3 million for a stadium.

The South Eastern Sports Boosters will borrow the money from the board to pay NCS; that money will be paid back to the district from the campaign’s proceeds.

NCS Group will conduct the campaign over a 15-month period, but the district has the option to back out any time if it doesn’t see results.

I would like the district to pay me $7,800 a month and I will try to raise $3 million for them.  They can back out at any time!

I’m not a fortune teller but I can say that there are other areas I know about where it was done like this and the stadium did pay for itself.  One smaller in scale (by a small school) and one about the same scale.  Booster club money, advertising, and sometimes groups like NCS are generally how it is done across the state.  Again the two cases I know a little about were successful.

From what I had heard, groups like NCS usually come up with time frames and amounts during their initial research before the contract is signed and present a somewhat rosy but more or less realistic expectation.  Perhaps Marge could chime in if she knows a little more about that process.

I’ll ask around some more at some HSFB games this year and see what I could dig up.  Also, many HS football games I go to have at least as many people in the stands as the Iron Bird games to which I have gone.  Now the tricky part is seating.  They have to make sure they get enough and make it so that you don’t have to stand around the ropes if you don’t want to without getting too many and over spending.  They also need a way to get the community more involved (i.e. advertise). I think the Friday night games under the lights will help in this respect.

Is it normal practice for a community group member to be passing notes to a SB member during a meeting? Just curious. It might be just an innocent thing but one never knows nowdays with all the conflict of interest taking place.

What ever you got would be great.  These nutty people have done more than enough that is totally wrong. They do not need to be hung by something they did not do, because they have done enough with out that.  Just the plan true facts are great.

I want to make sure I got the name right and I’ll let you know.  Like I said it could be just an innocent thing of just returning something that was exchange earlier. I think I might just call the SB member and ask.
