Unfortunately they are going do what ever they want to do. The people wil have to sue to get remediation. Taxes go up in order to cover this.

I know. It is crazy. Here, they had an opportunity to move them under the current contract. Being proactive would have protected the kids, as well, as the district.
There is an old saying , “Common sense ain’t so common.”

Cheryl & Frank addressed the mold issue 7 years ago and asked the board for help in remediation.  The “experts” said there was no problems.  So, unfortunately, a suit was filed over 5 years ago and there’s been no remediation yet.  Administration did acknowledge the problems a couple of years ago in the buildings as an earlier poster stated.  Meanwhile, there has been no remediation and the problems still exist and people are still getting sick.

My daughter told me that they were testing the air at the school yesterday.

You can walk around all day long with a red light-green light air sampling tester, but that isn’t the test you need.  Until they do investigative testing, their results will always be good.  I’ve heard a couple of ideas while talking to friends about this issue, why not put out surveys in the buildings to see if anyone is having symptoms and at least narrow down the problem areas and why not have a science class in each building do Q-tip testing in the buildings? That would be a great project.  Just my suggestions.

Doubtful the administration would allow students to find them wrong.  Just like we can’t have lie detectors administered to employees at the WH.

I agree with you Karl - just thought I would post to let everyone know that they were “sniffing” the air.  I think the Administration knows about the problem.  Now I hope something gets done!

I have no idea where either Delta or Fawn even ARE, so you’re asking the wrong person grin I’m not from here and I don’t have a child in the district yet, but I’m sure I’ll pay more attention when I do.  I thought Fawn/Delta was the same area.  Oops.

Fawn Elementary is on Rte 851 on right hand side just before you get to the Middle Schools which are located on the left. Delta is located far east almost at the end of Main St. in Delta.

So if you don’t want higher taxes which will surely exist to cover the cost of lawsuit(s), why encourage school district residents to sue instead of trying to work with the school grounds and maintenance employee and the school board to bring about a solution?

The only ones that stand to benefit from a lawsuit if the case(s) is won are the lawyers. Even if the lawyer loses the case, they still benefit!

This does not surprise me one bit. Local authorities always seem to ignore industry experts. They seem to know everything themselves.

Sorry to disagree on this statement. This statement was applicable decades ago, but not today. Times have changed a lot.

There is no reason why everyone cannot get along in harmony or at least near harmony.

Been there, tried that!

In a perfect world everyone would get along in harmony, local authorities would pay attention to industry experts and the schools would be safe and healthy for our children.  In a perfect world.

My child brought home a memo from the West building yesterday about peanut allergies and the life-threatening allergic reactions that some students can experience. Interestingly, We never got a memo about the life-threatening effects of the mold in the building.  Is it denial or is it a cover-up? It’s not going to go away, even if they won’t talk about it.  There are many of our children that are sick, some worse than others. I believe that there is a definite link back to the school buildings. They continue to use the wrong tests to test for the mold. The “air tests” they are doing will not detect mold. It is a waste of our money. They use the “good” results from those tests to prove that the building is fine when it fact it is not.

I think its ignorance.  With allergies - there is a direct in your face link.....give a child who is allergic to peanuts, peanuts and they react......those who are reacting to mold or toxins can react over time and people/drs/etc can diagnose it as something else until its too late.
