Friendly reminder that anyone who owns, leases, or occupies any building lot in the borough must clear away the snow and ice from their sidewalks to allow a safe pathway within 24 hours after the cessation of snow and ice.  In cases where the snow or ice cannot be removed, sand, cinders, or similar material must be used to make travel reasonably safe.  Fine for non-compliance is $25.00 or imprisonment for a term not to exceed 10 days.  Each day is considered a seperate violation.

Let it Snow!

Do you report this to the police also? It sounds like you keep them pretty busy?

Defiant,

Actually, I have never reported a snowy sidewalk to the police, since there are several in town who live to report those things.

The only reason I posted the reminder about snow removal is that it is a town ordinance, and again, a safety issue for our many walkers in town.

Not sure if there is a certain width, I normally just clear my whole sidewalk.

According to Ordinance #2002.004 - Snow Removal for a sidewalk should be at least a path 24 inches wide.
