As Stewartstown’s Emergency Management Co-ordinator, I wanted to give everyone in the borough an update on our activities to date. More announcements will be forthcoming in future newsletters, etc. As of this writing, we are looking for borough residents who may be interested in becoming involved. We need people to staff our Emergency Operations Center (borough office building) in the event of a local emergency. We have stockpiled some emergency supplies (sleeping bags, mattresses, etc.) to accommodate people who may have to leave their homes in a disaster. We’re negotiating with York County to procure a generator to provide total emergency power to the building (we currently have power for the police department downstairs). We are currently re-writing our emergency plan and would like input from the community. If you are interested, contact 993-2963, ext 285, and leave a message.
