Apparently, there is a very real problem with the builders AT Masterpiece Homes - they also built homes in the Fields of Broad Spring in Glen Rock Borough (Mike Lee is NOT the codes officer there) and the people that bought those homes are also having problems.  Perhaps changes were made after the codes inspections??????

Errors and Omissions policies are held by real estate agents and real estate inspectors also, much of it bogus.  Try collecting.

Sorry not true. Mike Lee wanted East Hopewell Township to pay the premium for his and the township said no.

The Lee’s are good people, when you handle so many permits as they have over the years I would figure that there would be some problems.  I don’t know any real numbers such as a ratio of permits to complaints, but I’m choosing to not make any judgements until the issue is resolved or litigated.

A comment was made earlier about the motivation to pass permits to make $$, wouldn’t they still be able to charge a fee if there was a fail?  Also, for me anyway, integrity and reputation is a bigger motivator than what money can be made.

Bev,

I’m not and didn’t mean to insinuate that the Lee’s aren’t good people.  If it came off that way I’m sorry.  However, there seems to be a huge gap in the checks and balance system that should be looked into.  We’re not talking about an instance here or there.  The problems in Shrewsbury are mass repeated problems, as were the drainage/mold issues in Stewartstown.

Bev,

I don’t think anyone was attacking the Lee’s personally as they are very nice people. I do however agree with the point Bobby is making. smile

Anyone read/hear of the story regarding new homes in Shrewsbury?  Evidently the codes enforcement didn’t do such a bang up job. The enforcement name in the article is Mike Lee, who I know was the codes enforcement for Stewartstown.  If I’m not mistaken, I believe someone told me he’s no longer handling codes enforcement in Stewartstown.  However, I do know of a problem that many of the Myers Homes in Stewartstown experienced a few years ago.  There were rampant mold problems due to drainage pipes not being connected in crawl spaces.  Something else that codes enforcement should’ve caught, IMO.

Just FYI, it was two houses in Stewartstown Station. I also heard quite a few interesting things about Mr. Lee when I had a contractor at my house building my deck...next time you hire someone, especially a local contractor, ask them about him. VERY intersting stories....

Apparently, the mold was serious enough that it could not be “swept under the rug” in two houses in Stewartstown Station.  From what I hear, there are many other houses in Stewartstown Station effected in which the occupants have health concerns that could possibly be because of the mold.

There were also problems in Shrewsbury.  It was alleged that Lee allowed people to move into four homes—three in Shrewsbury Township and one in Hopewell Township—that didn’t meet building code.  I recall seeing clips on Channel 8 of homes in Shrewsbury - one where the basement ceiling looked like it was caving in.  One had water problems due to grading.  Here’s the story:
