RE: Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy Meeting
_________________________________________
Recently, there has been much discussion about the Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy, which Pennsylvania, in addition to Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, developed as a means to reduce nutrient pollution in our local watersheds and ultimately, remove the Chesapeake Bay from the Federal Clean Water Act’s list of impaired waters Of course, Pennsylvania’s Strategy affects all of us, and therefore, I invite you to attend a public forum that I am hosting on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the York Expo Center’s Horticultural Hall at 7:00pm.
Joining us at the meeting will be Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen McGinty, as well as Deputy Secretary Cathy Myers. They will be on hand to answer the many questions that 1 know most of you have regarding the Strategy, its implementation, the effects it will have on you, and so forth. To assist in providing you with the most thorough responses and avoid duplicative questioning, I would request that you please e-mail any questions you would like answered at the meeting to my Legislative Assistant, Brenda Arnold at by Friday, May 19th. She will then forward them to the Department for consideration.
As Chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Commission, I am very committed to this issue, and I hope you will consider attending to learn more and provide your thoughts. However, should you not be able to attend or should others in your organization like to join you, please feel free to send as many individuals as you would like. Also, do not hesitate to contact my district office for further information.
