On two consecutive Fridays York-based Rutter’s opened new stores in Fawn Grove and New Freedom.  The new stores replace older and smaller stores previously operated in these southern york county locations.

Stewartstown Borough Authority receives loan / grant

Stewartstown Borough Authority received a $392,838 loan and a $434,712 grant to upgrade and expand the sewage treatment plant and improve the quality of the plant’s discharges, as well as reduce nitrogen and phosphorous emissions from the plant.

Silent art auction

The Friends of the Southern York County Library are holding a silent auction of two framed prints, two original framed paintings, and one autographed watercolor print. The artwork was donated to the Southern York County Library by local artists and friends.

Recreational area planned to reclaim ex-garbage dump

The decade-long dialogue about converting the York County Landfill into a recreation site could come to a conclusion soon.  And children might be playing soccer and baseball on the landfill in Hopewell Township as early as the summer of 2007.

After 18 years, Vera Heilman retiring

Bailey Springs fire

Firefighters battled a two alarm fire in the Bailey Springs development in Stewartstown, Thursday December 15, 2005. The fire started around 4 a.m. in a nine home building under construction in the 600 block of Crestview Road.

Car flips over

A Stewartstown woman escaped serious injury after her sport-utility vehicle flipped onto its roof during a car crash in York City.  Lynn Creter, 43, of 23 Ovelton Ave., was taken to York Hospital, where she was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.
