GTE’s Stewartstown Calling PlansEver since the new Extended Area Service (EAS) plan was created for Stewartstown residents, there has been a lot of confusion about the different call plans available. I’ve done some investigation and as of today there are six (6) local calling plans. No wonder there is confusion! If you’re like me, you thought the Flat Rate EAS plan was going to replace all of the other plans once it arrived. That’s just not the case. After several calls to GTE to confirm and reconfirm the particulars, I’ve compiled plan information. For the following plans:
Flat Rate EAS (Extended Area Service) - $14.60/month Provides unlimited calling to Fawn Grove, Glen Rock, Red Lion, Stewartstown, Stewartstown, MD and York, with no per connection or per minute charges. Community Plus Plan - $8.91/month Provides unlimited calling to Fawn Grove, Glen Rock, Stewartstown, and Stewartstown, MD. Calls to Red Lion and York are an additional $.02 per call plus $.02 per minute. The off-peak rate is 40% less. Community Plan - $8.10/month Provides unlimited calling to Stewartstown. Calls to Fawn Grove, Glen Rock, Red Lion, Stewartstown, MD, and York are an additional $.02 per call plus $.02 per minute. The off-peak rate is 40% less. Basic Plan - $6.81/month Calls to Fawn Grove, Glen Rock, Red Lion, Stewartstown, Stewartstown, MD, and York are all charged at $.02 per call plus $.02 per minute. The off-peak rate is 40% less. Metered Service - $5.81/month Calls to Fawn Grove, Glen Rock, Red Lion, Stewartstown, Stewartstown, MD, and York are all charged at $.07 per call with no per minute charge. The off-peak rate is 50% less. Measured Service - $5.81/month Calls to Stewartstown are $.0324 per call plus $.0054 per minute. Calls to Fawn Grove Glen Rock, Stewartstown, MD, and Red Lion are $.0648 per call plus $.0108 per minute. Calls to York are $.07 per call plus $.015 per minute. The off-peak rate is 50% less. I was told that the Metered Service and Measured Service plans are little used. Also be aware that these rates and plans could change at any time. Please email me if you notice an inaccuracy or are aware that something has changed. I learned something interesting as a result of my investigations. GTE tells me that I’ve been overpaying for some of the calls on my current plan, Community Calling Plus. For example, my calls to York are supposed to be $.02 per call plus $.02 per minute. They are being billed at twice that! A GTE representative told me that they will investigate to see if this is just happening to me or if it is more widespread.
