Lions and Lionesses from five communities party in Stewartstown

Stewartstown’s Eureka Fire Hall was the gathering spot for 151 Lions and Lionesses from New Freedom, Jacobus, Dallastown, York Township and, of course, Stewartstown when the two local clubs played host at the annual social get-together of those clubs in Lion “Zone 4-C.” Zone Chairman Lion John Parker, of the Jacobus Lions Club, served as emcee of the affair at which Lion Vice District Governor Daniel Clever was an honored guest.

During the evening, VDG Daniel conducted the ceremony to install Michael B. Herman as a new member of the Jacobus Lions Club. Entertainment was provided by the Jazz Band of Kennard-Dale High School under the direction of Mr. James Craley. They played such nostalgic Glen Miller hits as “String of Pearls” and “In the Mood.” At the close of the meeting, the flower centerpieces on each table, which had been prepared by the Stewartstown Lions Club, were distributed as door prizes.

The next major joint event for the various Lions and Lioness Clubs in the area will be the District Convention at the Yorktowne Hotel on Saturday, April 27. That will bring together representatives from all three of the counties that make up Lion District 14-C: York, Adams, and Cumberland.
