No sales tax on personal computers? If you’re thinking about buying a new computer for your home, now may be the time to do it. From August 6 - 13, 2000, you can buy a personal computer tax-free at Pennsylvania retail stores, by mail order, or via the Internet, if it is for non-business use. This tax exemption period is part of the Tax Reform package recently passed in Pennsylvania. You may also want to consider making your purchase from a recently established Stewartstown business. Systems & More Corporation was started by Stewartstown resident Jeff Bruening, and is currently offering a nicely configured system at $1275.00 plus monitor. Check out the Systems & More Corporation website for more information. Some things to keep in mind:
- The computer must be for non-business use to qualify.
With the school year fast approaching, this is a great time to get a computer for your kids to use for their schoolwork. No sense paying taxes if you don’t have to!
