Police: Bank robberies linkedSame man suspected in Red Lion, Stewartstown heists Police said the robber of a bank in Stewartstown yesterday is the same man suspected of robbing a bank in Red Lion last week. The Stewartstown robbery occurred at 1:39 p.m. when a white man in his late 20s to mid-30s entered Sovereign Bank at 19 W. Pennsylvania Ave. The man demanded that the tellers give him “all their $50s and $100s,” but did not show a weapon, said Stewartstown Police Chief Charles Reid. The tellers told the robber that they did not have any $50s and $100s and he demanded that they “give me what you got,” Reid said. Police said he obtained an undisclosed amount of money and exited via the front door. In the Red Lion robbery last Tuesday, police said the same man entered the Wachovia Bank at 1 N. Main St. at 1:21 p.m. He handed a teller a demand note and obtained an undisclosed amount of money, York Area Regional Police said last week. No injuries were reported in either robbery. Stewartstown Police are working with the York Area Regional Police Department on the investigation into the two incidents, Reid said. Bank cameras took photos of the man at both scenes. The robber is described as a 5-foot-8-inch man with a medium build with a light growth mustache and beard. In both robberies, he wore a black stocking cap with Pittsburgh Steelers on the front. He also wore dark sunglasses, sweatshirt and a gray zip-front fleece jacket. Anyone with information about either robbery, can contact York Area Regional Police Detective Donald Hopple at 741-1259 or Stewartstown Police at 993-5308. -- Reach Heidi Bernhard-Bubb at 505-5436 or hbubb@yorkdispatch.com.
