The East Hopewell Township Planning Commission unanimously recommended last night that the township supervisors reject a proposed 3,300-head hog farm on Round Hill Church Road.
The commissioners said they believe the farm would be a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO), which would require a more detailed plan.
They also said the plans are incomplete, lacking development information, generator information and a facility to dispose of deceased hogs—as well as a notarized signature.
But farmer John Marsteller Jr. said he is not worried about the ruling. He argues his operation should not be regulated as a CAFO, but if he has to, he will resubmit his application to meet the guidelines.
