The East Hopewell Twp. Planning Commission has decided to extend its review of controversial 3300-hog farm plan to get more information on how manure would be managed after a Team Ag Inc. representative was unable to answer questions raised about it. The meeting was attended by 300 concerned residents.
The recently formed Stewartstown Regional Alliance for Community Action (SRACA) has to date collected 1000 signatures from area residents opposing the plan. The Pennsylvania EPA has written that the farm meets the definition of a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation, a classification that carries more stringent rules and requirements.
