On two consecutive Fridays York-based Rutter’s opened new stores in Fawn Grove and New Freedom.  The new stores replace older and smaller stores previously operated in these southern york county locations.

On Friday, March 13, a new 4,600-square-foot Rutter’s Farm Store opened at 69 W. Main Street in Fawn Grove, replacing a much smaller store at 5 E. Main Street that had no gas pumps and only four parking spaces.

Today Rutter’s opened a 4,300-square-foot store at 2 Broad Street in New Freedom. Rutter’s previously operated a 2,700-square-foot store at the same site until November, when that building was razed to make way for the new structure.

Outside both stores are 10 fueling positions that dispense gasoline, diesel and kerosene under a canopy.  Inside, customers will find Rutter’s proprietary Famous Express Deli and Famous Express Grill, an upscale self-serve coffee bar, and a seating area.

Each store has approximately 25 employees.  Joan Cranford manages the Fawn Grove store, and Cindy Burton is the deli manager.  The New Freedom store is managed by Rose Allison with Stephanie Titus as the deli manager.

Family-owned and third generation-managed, York-based Rutter’s Farm Stores operates 51 convenience stores in York, Adams, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
